Building your new home

If you’ve never built a new home before, the prospect of building one can seem daunting. That’s why we think it’s helpful to remember that building a home is a process. Because we at KT Reich have been through the process many times before, we know the steps well.

Decide what kind of new home you want to purchase

Are you looking to build a home based on your specific needs? Or, are you looking to move this month? If that’s the case, you’ll want to look for a new home already finished. These homes offer you all of the benefits of living in a new home without any of the stress of the building process. They are built to the same high standards as all the rest of our homes.

Select a lot

Within a community, you’ll be able to choose the location of your lot. You will need to know the zoning and the CC&R’s for your lot (and any neighboring lots), the size, if you are in a flood plain, and what kind of city services are available. If you plan to build on land away from city services, you need to know what services are available and how much it will cost to bring them to your home. KT Reich has the experience to walk you through the process and the skill it takes to get it right.

Securing Finance

We are happy to provide you with a list of banks and mortgage companies we recommend. There is no substitute for good, honest people. You will have to supply all the necessary paperwork to the companies you wish to use. The broker or loan officer will walk you through this process. We will be sure to provide any necessary paperwork.

Breaking Ground

Home construction can take anywhere from two months to a year, or longer. However, the time of construction is dependent upon the complexity of the home, the availability of construction trades and materials, and weather conditions. Rushing construction is not always best--taking time allows the home owner to choose the colors, fixtures, etc. Be careful though, taking too much time may increase construction costs.

The one thing breaking ground really is--exciting!
